I just came through a health crisis that rocked me to my core.
Though my first year of motherhood contained so much joy and magic, it also took me into some of the deepest and hardest places I've ever been – physically, mentally, and emotionally.
A complication from my birth came back around, and I spent months trying to figure out what was going on... then advocating fiercely for myself until I was able to get in for the proper treatment.
It was incredibly difficult, AND I'm profoundly grateful to say that 3.5 months post-procedure, I am fully on the other side. 🎉
When people talk about a "new lease on life," I now know what they mean.
I am absolutely filled with gratitude. It pours through me every single day. Of course, I have moments where I get stressed or caught up in the busy-ness of life. But there is always this background of deep, drop-to-my-knees-and-bow-my-head gratitude.
Gratitude to be alive. Gratitude to be healthy. Gratitude for the health and well-being of my loved ones. Gratitude for every smile, giggle, and sweet moment with Siena.
I learned SO MUCH from this experience that I could probably write a whole book about it. But I'll just share the high-level here. I learned:
1) What it truly means to advocate for myself, unapologetically.
2) That I am someone who needs a bigger passion/purpose that I am pouring myself into. This is like air and water for me. It's essential to my health and well-being.
3) That nothing is guaranteed in life, so you might as well go full force in pursuit of your dreams. The fear you feel while doing so? It's TINY in comparison to the regret you would feel if you didn't go for it.
4) Health and well-being are the foundation for everything.
5) How to trust my gut, even more than ever before.
You guys, I did it. I made it. Life is so freaking beautiful.
Thank you to my husband Sunny, my mama Gigi, and my sister Mariah for being my rocks every step of the way. And to everyone else who has been there for me. I love you!
(As far as specifics go, I'd rather keep those to myself. Just know I'm fully healed and ready to rock! And if you'd like to send MORE love, I'll always receive! 😉
